There’s no need to gather all your friends together because there’s slews of strangers online with their download, in the same predicament as you. And they’ll all be happy to challenge you to a game any day you want, at any time you want. And the best thing? With the download version you’ll always have new opponents to challenge. You don’t need to face the same people all the time if you don’t want.
There are two routes you can go: either free or paid download poker. Whether or not you’re new to the game it’s probably best to download a free program at first and get used to playing poker online, as it is different from real-life cards.
After you’ve mastered the free download you’re probably ready to move up to some low-stakes tables, and if you’re lucky the company that runs your free poker game will run a for-money version as well. If so, move up; if not, find a new, reputable company to trust your money to.
When starting out, again, try low risk tables at first. Don’t jump right into $50 tables expecting instant victory, because you’ll probably be humbled quickly and lose a lot of cash. Start with small tournaments to get used to the environment, as well, and try to place high – if not first – before moving on to the big stuff. In the end you’ll save a lot of money, and probably make a lot in the bargain.
