Whether you’re sitting in a brick and mortar casino or in an online game of poker, image is everything. You need to be able to project an image of strength to intimidate your opponent and get what you need in a poker game as quickly as you can. That’s the key to succeeding in online casino poker.
There are three standard images that players can fall into. The first are obvious newcomers to the game. These online players don’t know what they’re doing and will often make unpredictable plays. More often than not these players will fall quickly and quit the online venue of the casino in no time. Sometimes, however, these players will prove to actually be good players in disguise. People who do this are often known as sharks.
The second are tight players. These online gamblers play very conservatively and will usually fold. They’re the epitome of patience; however, once they’ve got a winning hand, they’ll devastate everybody else without hesitation. These players are generally experts in the casino at poker.
The last are the loose players. These guys or girls, feeling lucky, will take pots often and take crazy chances to win. They’ll usually do this with poor hands that had no business winning. These players can, however, usually be taken pretty easily by other players willing to take a bit of a risk themselves. Just be sure your hand is a winner or the pot may be headed back to a loose player who got really lucky with a good poker hand.
The tight player is probably going to be the most successful because you’ll adopt an attitude quickly that you can use to bluff. If there’s a huge pot on the line and you’ve got nothing – but you’re normally pretty conservative – you can get really aggressive with your betting and thereby tell other players that you have a strong hand when you really don’t. The chances of their backing down is greatly increased by doing so, and your chances of winning at online casino poker are consequently skyrocketed.
